Vitalik: US government efficiency departments should not focus too much on small unreasonable expenditures, but should take a VC-like approach

Vitalik Buterin commented on Warpcast regarding the unreasonable content of the US Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) on small government expenditures: "I don't agree with the way the Government Efficiency Department handles this. The examples listed only account for a small part of the total expenditure. If the government optimizes to avoid spending projects that look bad on X, it will miss many valuable opportunities, while those large-scale projects that actually waste more will continue to exist because they look decent. For small-scale public funds, you should adopt a venture capital (VC) approach, that is, accept a lot of possible mistakes, because the goal is to ensure that opportunities that can bring 1,000 times returns are seized. Careful energy should be focused on large-scale matters."
