Intel announced today that after a distinguished career spanning more than 40 years, CEO Patrick P. Gelsinger will retire from the company and step down from the board of directors, effective December 1, 2024. Intel has appointed two executives, David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus, as interim co-CEOs while the board searches for a new CEO. Frank Yary, independent chairman of Intel's board of directors, will serve as interim executive chairman during the transition. The leadership structure of Intel Foundry remains unchanged. The board of directors has established a committee that will work hard and quickly to find a permanent successor to Patrick Gelsinger. (Jin Shi)
