According to Odaily, a former official from the Biden administration has agreed to protect the hybrid work rights of thousands of U.S. Social Security Administration employees. An email sent to union members reveals that the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), representing 42,000 Social Security staff, reached an agreement with the agency last week. This agreement ensures remote work rights under an updated contract until 2029. Rich Couture, president of the AFGE local chapter, stated that the new agreement, signed by Martin O’Malley, the recently departed Social Security Commissioner under President Biden, will allow employees to "maintain the current level of remote work."
