Google's AI research lab DeepMind says its newly released AI model, Gemini 2.0, will serve as the foundation for building more advanced AI agents.
AI agents powered by Gemini 2.0, released Dec. 11, can understand complex instructions, plan, reason, take actions across websites, and even assist in video game strategy, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis and CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu said in a Dec. 11 blog post.
"The practical application of AI agents is a research area full of exciting possibilities. We are exploring this new frontier with a series of prototypes that can help people complete tasks and get things done," Hassabis and Kavukcuoglu said. According to the two, there are currently multiple experimental AI assistant projects powered by Gemini with different capabilities.
