A memorandum filed on Dec. 11 postponed the next pretrial hearing for Samourai Wallet, a crypto-mixing service, from Dec. 17 to March 12, 2025, for 90 days. The trial date has been set for Nov. 3, 2025. Since the last pretrial conference in the U.S. court on Sept. 17, 2024, the government filed its third and fourth batches of evidentiary materials on Sept. 23 and Oct. 21, 2024, respectively. Despite encryption issues, the government copied the first and second batches of evidence and provided them to developer Keonne Rodriguez on Nov. 6, 2024. A fifth batch of evidence, containing data taken from seized devices, is expected to be filed within seven days.
The documents show that the FBI team is reviewing a total of 45 devices seized from developers Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill to find confidential materials, and plans to release the remaining data by early 2025. So far, 17 TB of data (more than half of the total) has been shared, and more data will be released before the trial.
Earlier in April, the co-founder of the cryptocurrency mixing service SamouraiWallet was arrested and charged with money laundering. (Nobsbitcoin)
