Adam Back, co-founder and CEO of Blockstream, inventor of Hashcash, and a well-known cryptographer in the industry, said that quantum computing could make the Bitcoin network more powerful. Industry insiders have previously expressed concerns that due to advances in quantum physics, quantum computing can perform computing processes at unprecedented speeds, so encryption algorithms may be destroyed in the future.
Back wrote in X: "Post-quantum (PQ) is at least a few decades away," which is why hash-based PQ schemes will never work: "PQ signature research will eventually produce conservative, well-reviewed, and more compact signatures, and Bitcoin can use these schemes as another option."
