Global cybersecurity and antivirus company Kaspersky detailed a new cryptocurrency scam in a blog post published on Monday, where scammers post crypto wallet seed phrases in Youtube comments to lure potential victims.
The scam targets users who try to access a wallet using the seed phrase. Once inside, they find thousands of dollars in USDT, but must first pay a small TRX fee to transfer the money. The trap is that the lure is set up as a multi-signature wallet. To authorize a spending transaction in such a wallet, the approval of two or more people is required, so transferring USDT to a personal wallet does not work, even after paying a "commission." Any TRX used to pay the fee is transferred to another wallet controlled by the scammers, leaving the victim empty-handed.
Kaspersky advises crypto users to avoid accessing other people's wallets, no matter how tempting the opportunity may seem.
