Yuzhou Court sentenced a defendant in a fraud case of inducing foreigners to buy virtual currency to three years in prison

The Yuzhou Municipal People's Court yesterday publicly sentenced a telecommunications network fraud case and invited 10 NPC deputies and 10 CPPCC members from Yuzhou City to enter the courtroom to observe the trial. The court found out that the defendant Wen, in collusion with several people (all of whom have been sentenced), fabricated identities and used chat skills to gain the trust of the other party, inducing foreigners to buy virtual currency to commit fraud. A total of 54,360 fraudulent messages were sent, and Wen made an illegal profit of 2,400 yuan. The court held that the defendant Wen organized others to commit telecommunications network fraud, and used the method of fabricating facts and concealing the truth to defraud others of their property. His behavior constituted the crime of fraud and was a joint crime. Taking into account the facts, nature, circumstances and degree of social harm of Wen's crime, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Criminal Law, the defendant Wen was convicted of fraud and sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of RMB 20,000.
