Analysis: AI agent hype cycle expected to continue for at least another four months

Jamie Coutts, chief cryptocurrency analyst at investment institution Real Vision, wrote on X: "The last major cryptocurrency hype cycle was from November 2020 to May 2021, which lasted about 6 months. Sub-sectors such as DeFi and NFT lasted about 6 to 12 months. People's interest in cryptocurrency AI agents began in November 2024. Based on historical experience, this trend is expected to continue for at least another four months, but may be longer. AI agents are different from other agents. They unlock potential for each established and new use case, but there will be a lot of scams (remember to act cautiously/control the size of your position), and like every hype cycle, the sell-off will be huge when it comes, but I suspect it's a long way from then."
