Santiment posted on the X platform that the correlation between cryptocurrency and the stock market has been high since Trump was elected as the 47th President of the United States. Today, however, we are starting to see Bitcoin outperform the S&P 500 (compared to their normal range). Over the past three years, much of the community has viewed cryptocurrency as a “highly leveraged tech stock.” Yet there are signs in early 2025 that Bitcoin may be breaking away from its usual correlation with global stock markets. Historically, the most significant bull markets have typically occurred when crypto markets have low or even no correlation with the stock market. If Bitcoin and other altcoins can continue to grow this January without relying on the S&P 500, it will be a strong signal that new all-time highs are likely.
