According to Token Terminal, in December 2024, the top five DeFi protocols generated $158 million in revenue, with four of them setting a new all-time high for monthly revenue.
Among them, Ethena led the way, with revenue of $56.9 million in December, a record high. In addition, this amount accounted for nearly 25% of its total revenue of $230.8 million last year.
Sky (formerly Maker) also set a record high in monthly revenue, generating nearly $40 million in revenue last month, accounting for 13% of its $304 million in 2024. The new revenue record is less than $1 million away from the previous record set in January 2022.
Base DEX Aerodrome earned about $38 million in revenue in December, also a record high, more than $5 million higher than the previous high, equivalent to 15.6% of the protocol's $243.6 million in revenue in 2024.
Aave’s revenue jumped more than $3 million to $13.6 million between November and December. That’s a record monthly revenue, equivalent to 16.7% of last year’s total revenue of $81.4 million.
Lido was the only DeFi app among these that didn’t hit a record monthly revenue, with $9.6 million in December, equivalent to 9.3% of the $103.6 million the protocol is expected to earn in 2024.
