Odaily Planet Daily News Amid the ongoing World (WLD) controversy in Latin America, Argentine authorities are investigating a newsstand operator who allegedly paid customers and "neighbors" about $20 for iris scans. An Argentine prosecutor concerned about consumer rights has begun investigating the case, and police have also launched a separate investigation.
The newsstand is located in Zapala, Neuquén Province, Patagonia. Officials said the newsstand operator (or the staff inside the newsstand) was not authorized to perform biometric data scans. According to reports, there is information indicating that the operator is connected to World and WLD tokens. Residents of the city reported that there were often long queues outside the newsstand "all day long." Passersby said this was unusual because the newsstand "cannot currently attract so many customers at the same time."
A local resident who wished to remain anonymous said, "Inside the newsstand, there is a person who uses this place as an office."
The same resident also said that the man in the newsstand "has a computer and he pays people to provide biometric data."
If found guilty of a violation, law enforcement officers may punish the person and the company. (Cryptonews)
