Tom Goldstein, a U.S. Supreme Court lawyer who hid $8 million in crypto assets, was arrested again as a flight risk

Odaily Planet Daily News On Monday, a federal judge in the United States ordered the arrest of Tom Goldstein, the chief lawyer of the Supreme Court, without bail. Previously, prosecutors warned that Goldstein had a "serious" risk of absconding and might escape his pending criminal tax evasion case. Prosecutors said that Goldstein's bail should be revoked because he did not disclose to pretrial service personnel after his recent indictment that he controlled two cryptocurrency wallets, through which he received more than $8 million last week. Prosecutors wrote in a document in the federal court in Maryland that in the past five days, Goldstein "sent more than $6 million in cryptocurrency from these two wallets," even though the judge had ordered Goldstein not to transfer any funds without approval. In addition, shortly after Goldstein was subject to a federal tax criminal investigation, he "provided valuables, including cryptocurrency, to a potential witness who was aware of his own and his law firm's financial and income situation." The proposal "raises serious concerns that Goldstein's recent cryptocurrency transactions may also be used to influence potential witnesses of his criminal behavior," prosecutors wrote. (CNBC)
