Odaily Planet Daily News Digihost, a bitcoin mining company listed on Nasdaq and TSX Venture Exchange, has established a new subsidiary dedicated to building data centers for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
The company announced on Monday that the newly established subsidiary US Data Centers Inc. will be responsible for transforming its existing data center in Columbiana, Alabama into a Tier 3 certified facility. Digihost acquired the asset in 2022. The Alabama plant will be developed in two phases with a total capacity of 55 megawatts (MW). The first phase will deliver 22 MW by the second quarter of 2026 and is expected to cost $176 million. The second phase will add 33 MW by early 2027 at an estimated cost of $264 million.
Digihost plans to finance the $440 million project primarily through debt, supported by future revenue from the completed plant, although the amount is about four times Digihost's current market value. Last week, the company raised $6.6 million in an “oversubscribed” private placement. (TheMinerMag)
