According to Odaily, Ethereum's Pectra upgrade is set to go live on the Holesky testnet today at 9:55 PM UTC. This upgrade allows developers to test new improvements before they are implemented on the Ethereum mainnet. Pectra introduces features aimed at enhancing Ethereum accounts, supporting Layer 2 scaling, and improving the user experience for validators. The Ethereum Foundation highlights Pectra as a significant step towards account abstraction. A major change includes EIP-3074, which enhances Ethereum account abstraction by enabling externally owned accounts (EOA) to execute batch transactions and sponsor gas payments. Additionally, the Pectra upgrade will increase Ethereum's blob capacity by 50%. Currently, the mainnet supports an average of three blobs per block, which will rise to six following the Pectra deployment.
