The 2025 annual report, submitted to the Scottish Police Authority's Policing Performance Committee, outlines the growing challenges law enforcement faces in combating cybercrime and fraud, particularly those involving cryptocurrencies. Authorities have noted significant advancements in digital forensics and tracking technologies. However, Scotland still lacks a dedicated cryptocurrency crime unit. Plans are underway to address this gap by establishing a cyber and fraud command unit, which aims to strengthen Scotland's approach to investigating and prosecuting digital crimes.
