New York lawmaker proposes blockchain for 'uncensored truth' in elections

Odaily Planet Daily News: With the new White House administration taking office, state legislators in the United States are considering adopting blockchain technology in many ways. New York State Assemblyman Clyde Vanel has submitted a bill to explore the use of blockchain technology to ensure election fairness and combat voter fraud. The proposal submitted by Vanel to the State Assembly Election Law Committee will instruct the New York State Election Commission to evaluate the use of on-chain systems to present "uncensored truth" in the democratic decision-making process. If the proposal is approved, the election commission will be required to study related activities in other states and submit research results within 12 months. The draft submitted on Tuesday is under review by the committee. If supported after revisions and debate, the bill will be submitted to the state assembly for further discussion, then to the New York State Senate, and finally to the governor's office. The governor's signature is the last step before any potential legislation becomes law. Since 2017, four versions of Vanel's election bill have been introduced in the New York State Assembly, but none of them have been approved by the governor. (The Block)
