Odaily Planet Daily News: The Norwegian government plans to temporarily ban the construction of new data centers that use high-energy-consuming technologies for cryptocurrency mining. Karianne Tung, Norway's Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, said that the current government intends to limit cryptocurrency mining activities in the country to the greatest extent possible in order to prioritize the electricity needs of other industries. She pointed out that crypto mining not only consumes a lot of energy, but also contributes very little to employment and revenue in the local economy. The temporary ban may be officially implemented in the fall of 2025.
