Ethereum Foundation Unveils Protocol Update on Distributed Storage Architecture

According to Foresight News, the Ethereum Foundation has released Protocol Update 002, highlighting advancements in distributed storage architecture (DAS) and its significance for securely scaling decentralized applications (DAs). The update includes several key developments. Fusaka has introduced PeerDAS, a new data architecture designed to enhance blob expansion beyond current throughput levels, increasing from 6 blobs per block to 48 blobs per block. This improvement is supported by the gradual increase in mainnet blob numbers through the Blob Parameter Only (BPO) fork, which optimizes peer-to-peer bandwidth incrementally. The Glamsterdam initiative plans to adopt advanced network technologies to iterate on the PeerDAS design, aiming for further expansion. As data volumes continue to grow, memory pool sharding technology is expected to preserve Ethereum's value. Research into the next generation of DAS is anticipated to drive the evolution of secure DA scaling.
