OpenAI to spend $100 billion on backup servers to fuel AI breakthroughs

OpenAI announced it will spend $100 billion on backup servers to drive AI breakthroughs. In March, OpenAI released its ChatGPT feature, which turns photos into animated characters. This isn't the first time the company has had to temporarily limit these features due to a surge in usage. Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar told investors at a Goldman Sachs conference last week that the company has had to periodically delay the release of new features or AI models, or intentionally slow down some products, due to insufficient computing power.
