The U.S. Senate again rejected funding bills proposed by both Republicans and Democrats, failing to end the eight-day government shutdown with no sign of a resolution. In a 54-45 vote, the Senate failed to advance a Republican-led temporary appropriations bill that would have funded the government until late November. Another alternative appropriations bill supported by Democrats was also rejected by a vote of 47 to 52.
