Ripple Co-Founder Chris Larsen Profits from XRP Sales Amid Market Trends

According to Cointelegraph, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has realized significant profits from his XRP sales, totaling $764,209,610 since 2018. This development comes as XRP faces potential further losses, with Larsen continuing to cash out his XRP holdings. Analyst J. A. Maartunn from CryptoQuant highlighted Larsen's tendency to sell near local highs, a pattern that has drawn both criticism and understanding from the market. While some view Larsen's actions as strategic profit-taking, others accuse him of deliberately offloading at peak prices. Maartunn's analysis shows that Larsen's realized profits have surged in 2025, reaching $764.2 million from less than $200 million over seven years ago. In a recent transaction, Larsen transferred 50 million XRP from his wallet, which he confirmed was an investment in the Evernorth treasury. This move aligns with his ongoing strategy of capitalizing on XRP's market performance. Despite the controversy, Larsen still holds a substantial amount of XRP, estimated at up to $9 billion, which could continue to influence market dynamics. The XRP/USD pair is currently trading 34% below its multi-year highs of $3.66, a decline partly attributed to large outflows from Larsen's wallet. For XRP to reverse its downtrend, it must reclaim the 200-day simple moving average (SMA) at $2.60, a level that has historically preceded significant price recoveries. The next resistance levels are identified at the $2.74-$2.80 range and the 100-day SMA at $2.94, which, if surpassed, could signal the end of the current downtrend. Market indicators suggest potential for a price rebound, supported by a bullish divergence in the relative strength index (RSI) and a possible bullish cross from the moving average convergence divergence (MACD). These signals indicate weakening in the prevailing downtrend, encouraging traders to buy on dips as investor interest grows and seller exhaustion sets in. To confirm a bullish reversal, XRP must break above the 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $2.55.
