The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a motion to seal summary judgment related documents in the Ripple lawsuit, requesting the sealing of various information and documents, including the Hinman document, stating that its mission goes beyond "public rights" access and summary judgment with the court "Irrelevant" documents, and also demanded to "redact" any reference to Hinman's speech documents from the defendant's documents. Foresight News previously reported that a U.S. magistrate judge asked the U.S. SEC to submit speeches about cryptocurrencies by Bill Hinman, former director of the SEC’s Department of Finance. Bill Hinman's 2018 speech explaining that Bitcoin and Ethereum are not securities makes the SEC's statement inconsistent.
