Nvidia (NVDA.O) said in a filing on Monday that it has purchased $5 billion worth of Intel (INTC.O) shares, finalizing a deal announced by the U.S. semiconductor company in September. The leading AI chip designer said in September it would acquire Intel common stock at $23.28 per share. The deal was seen as a significant financial boost for Intel after years of missteps and the depletion of its finances by capital-intensive expansion. According to Monday's filing, the world's most valuable company has purchased more than 214.7 million Intel shares through a private placement at the price set in the agreement. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced earlier this month that its antitrust agency had approved Nvidia's investment in Intel. (Jinshi)
