Tempo has released its native token standard, TIP-20, positioned for stablecoin and payment token applications. The official description states that TIP-20, while compatible with ERC-20, adds features such as transfer notes, compliance controls, and reward distribution, aiming to meet real-world payment, settlement, and fund management needs. Tempo states that TIP-20 allows the issuance of customized stablecoins for specific payment scenarios and supports high-throughput, predictable-fee payment transactions, while also enabling stablecoin trading within Tempo's native decentralized exchange. The standard also introduces mechanisms such as role-based access control and policy registries to support compliance and operational control. The official disclosure reveals that infrastructure providers such as AllUnity, Bridge, and LayerZero have begun supporting TIP-20. Tempo states that the standard is applicable to stablecoin issuers and can be extended to other fungible assets to reduce custom development costs and improve cross-scenario usability.
