Category: Metaverse
Fee: Zero
Estimated completion time: 5 minutes
The AI League is an upcoming revolutionary Metaverse AI football game which launches after the FIFA World Cup ends. Participating in the prediction game now allows players to score digital collectables and win free access to the AI League mobile game.
Verdict: The quality and artwork of character design are top-notch, and the website is smooth to navigate. You could feel the developers’ effort to maintain this game even after the end of the World Cup.
SecondLive
Project page: https://secondlive.world/event/56/89
Bounty page: https://secondlive.world/bounty/newPlayer
Category: Metaverse
Fee: Zero (Need gas fees for blockchain transactions)
Blockchain: BNB
Estimated completion time: 10 minutes
SecondLive is a web browser built-in metaverse platform that offers various 3D scenes. In the spaces of SecondLive, you could participate in AMA, parties, games, pavilions, brand stores, exhibitions, live broadcasts, concerts, etc.
Verdict: The website was difficult to navigate, probably because the World Cup event has yet to be made live. Players can only join in the “space” when the space is ready, so make sure to check the “Event” page and look up the “World Space Pavilion”.
OKX NFT Football Cup
Project page: https://www.okx.com/web3/nft/footballcup
Category: NFT
Fee: Zero (Need gas fees for blockchain transactions and 10 USDT x 3 for staking)
Blockchain: Ethereum
Estimated completion time: 10 minutes
OKX is holding a World Cup event with one of the most lucrative prize pools in the crypto space. Users are required to stake 10 USDT for each NFT they mint and can mint up to 3 NFTs per wallet (30 USDT in total) using OKX mobile app. By holding the NFT of the winning football team, all NFT holders are sharing the prize pool rewards. The staked fund will be claimable after the World Cup ends, along with the prize pool rewards.
Verdict: While the NFTs are free to mint, the transaction fees cost roughly $10 and require 30 USDT in staking ($40 in total). It is not advisable to create multiple accounts or wallets — especially using the same device — to mint the free NFTs, as OKX implemented an anti-fraud policy to prevent cheating. Alternatively, you may purchase additional NFT on the secondary market.
Matchday
Registration: https://matchday.com/join
Category: Web2 Free-to-Play/ NFT
Fee: Zero (Need gas fees for minting free pass)
Blockchain: Solana
Estimated completion time: 10 minutes
MatchDay is a casual social prediction game based on football cards, and players get to keep the cards even after the World Cup ends. The game is Web2-based at the current stage, followed by a mobile game in 2023. It collaborates with Solana’s largest NFT marketplace Magic Eden to launch its free challenge pass.
Verdict: A Web2-based game that can be played using a web browser. The navigation and user experience were a bit buggy, failing to capture the prediction inputs, and users must retry or refresh multiple times to complete the predictions.
Ulti-Ball
Event page: https://ultiball.ultiverse.io/
Category: Web3
Fee: Zero
Blockchain: Ethereum
Estimated completion time: 10 – 30 minutes
A prediction game hosted by UltiverseDAO and various well-known Web3 projects. Users must complete different tasks to earn BALL, an in-game (but not on-chain) token to make predictions. BALL can also be exchanged for lottery coupons to win prizes. At the end of the event, the prize pool will be distributed to the top 100 players on the leaderboard.
Verdict: There is a list of tasks to do — mainly to follow the Twitter page and join Discord — to earn in-game tokens for predictions. The prize pool is generous and requires no cost to participate in the game; however, I encountered errors several times while trying to claim the free token. Nevertheless, you may try to navigate around, only quitting the game if the error persists.
