New York State Senator Proposes Criminalizing Sweepstakes and Other Cryptocurrency Fraud
New York State Senator Kevin Thomas filed a new petition to amend the bill to establish certain offenses related to virtual token distributions, rug sweepstakes and other fraud related to the misuse of private keys and hidden interests in crypto projects. The bill, authored by Senator Thomas, Senate Bill S8839, calls for the definition, punishment, and criminalization of fraudulent practices specifically aimed at developers and projects that intend to defraud crypto investors.
