Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has requested and received numerous examples of "the craziest and most out-of-control criticism" directed at him on Twitter and elsewhere.
Buterin made the lighthearted plea in a Jan. 14 tweet in which he shared some of his own favorite criticisms, revealing a lighter side of the ethereum creator. In the first 15 minutes, more than 500 people responded, although most supported Buterin. As of this writing, his tweet has received more than 1,200 comments.
In one of the four comments posted by Buterin, a user said he "looks like an alien junkie".
What's the craziest, most out-of-control criticism you've seen of me on Twitter or elsewhere? Here are a few good examples, and I wonder what others see that I don't!

Vitalik’s father, Dmitry, recalled a rather wild conspiracy theory that Vitalik was actually a Russian agent and that Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind the creation of Ethereum.

Back in 2017, Vitalik himself referred to "two different Reddit trolls!" comparing him to Hitler, sharing a screenshot in a tweet.
Ethereum, an early example of an initial coin offering (ICO) in the crypto space, is also one of the most successful, up more than 778,000% since 2015. One user referenced a crazy idea that often came up during the 2017 ICO boom, "Spider Vitalik Ponzi," and described Vitalik as the spider responsible for the Ethereum Ponzi network.

It wasn't all criticism, and some users took the opportunity to share their favorite memes, including this joke, which relies heavily on puns.

Other users revisited the classics, including a meme shared in a comment showing an aged Buterin and the headline of a hypothetical news show "Big news: Ethereum 2.0 finally released." Considering how old this meme is, It’s hard to argue that the criticisms about the length of time it will take for Eth2 to launch aren’t justified.

While the Twitter thread was about the insane criticism Buterin has received over the years, most users who responded were joking. ConsenSys' John Lilic noted that while criticism of Buterin has been both genuine and in jest, he has "almost been trying to make the field better since day one."
