JPMorgan Regional Head Joins Crypto-Friendly Bank

Whampoa Group, a prominent private family office in Singapore, has recruited former JPMorgan Regional Head Ali Moosa to oversee a digital bank in Bahrain.

Moosa will be executive vice chairman at the Singapore Gulf Bank, according to a statement that the family office released this week.

Previously, Moosa had served as regional head and vice chairman of central and eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa businesses.

Whampoa Group had announced its intentions to set up the Singapore Gulf Bank earlier this year, and to provide services that included payments and settlements for digital asset businesses. Bahrain’s central bank has already granted in-principle approval for the bank.

The bank plans to target institutions, innovators, and investors as clients.
