Brad Garlinghouse responded to the ongoing battle between Ripple Labs and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission via a pair of tweets on Saturday. “The SEC created this mess by proclaiming it was the cop on the crypto beat when it had no legal jurisdiction,” Garlinghouse tweeted. “It’s absurd to blame a Judge for faithfully applying the law,” he said.
Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse said Friday that the SEC has been a “bully.” The SEC has cracked down on the industry in a mission to protect investors, ramping up enforcement actions over the past year.
Both Ripple and the SEC have filed motions for summary judgment, which could see a judge making an ultimate decision before taking the case to trial.
Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse believes that the SEC can be characterized as being a “bully” that is trying to “regulate through enforcement”.
