Singapore Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling today announces her new role at DCS Card Centre, formerly known as Diners Club Singapore.

In her announcement, perhaps most notable is her support of the company's DCS Token, which is a dollar-backed payment token, aimed at creating secure connections between Web3 and Web2 payment solutions.

In her capacity at the company, she will be heading strategic partnerships and business development.

MP of MacPherson GRC

Ms. Tin, who is 39 years old and represents the MacPherson constituency, had previously revealed in August her departure from Grab to take on a role that is "more outward-facing and commercial" within a financial technology firm.

This decision followed her controversial appointment at Grab seven months earlier, which raised concerns over potential conflicts of interest.

Initially appointed as Grab's director of public affairs and policy in January, Ms. Tin assured the public that her roles as a parliamentarian and at Grab would be separate, with a commitment to transparency regarding which capacity she was acting in at any given time.

However, just nine days later, she transitioned into a corporate development role at Grab due to considerable discussion surrounding her initial appointment.

Grab explicitly stated that she would no longer represent the company in public policy discussions with the Singapore Government.

The People's Action Party, of which Ms. Tin is a member, also acknowledged the difficulties associated with her dual responsibilities as a legislator and a private sector employee required to engage with the Government.

Rebranding

Diners Club Singapore, which was known for issuing credit and charge cards, rebranded itself as DCS in August.

The company has shifted its focus towards becoming a fintech firm with ambitions to pioneer innovations in the payments sector.
