Snoop Dogg releases "Decentralized Dogg" NFT on SuperRare

Legendary hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg debuted a non-fungible token (NFT) collaboration with artist Coldie in the final release of the Decentral Eyes Portrait series.

The “Decentralized Dogg” NFT was minted on SuperRare at 7:15pm UTC on November 29th, and the auction will last until December 3rd. SuperRare is a digital NFT marketplace that caters to buyers willing to pay for more exclusive creations.

The NFT is a three-dimensional 3D collage composed of 10 different portraits of Snoop Dogg at various stages of his life, set against the backdrop of Snoop's original NFT-inspired soundtrack. At the time of writing, the highest bid was 169 ETH, about $760,000 at current prices.

Nick Adler, Snoop’s longtime innovation and investment partner, told Cointelegraph that the NFT launch is just “the beginning of Snoop’s work in the NFT and art space.”

He said that according to the performance of NFT, Snoop is "absolutely willing to cooperate with Coldie or other representative NFT artists in the future." Coldie told Cointelegraph that Snoop's management contacted him directly, hoping to cooperate with him to launch NFT through SuperRare.

Adler also mentioned that Snoop plans to have an ongoing relationship with collectors or DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations) who eventually purchase the NFT.

He said: "What's interesting about the current environment for us is that we plan to continue to develop this piece. Like, maybe we can use it on our other work, whether it's a future album cover or a book cover. ,"

Coldie also told Cointelegraph that Snoop’s management team has considered using the artwork as an augmented reality label for wine bottles, or as a book cover.

“We could do a Snoop bottle that uses augmented reality to bring the portrait to life on the bottle. This will bring greater value to collectors because there are millions of eyes on the artwork.”

In a recent interview about the NFT, Snoop Dogg said, “This technology has inspired me to rethink the way I work and release my artwork to the world.”

"You don't just see it, you feel it, you hear it. Do you understand? I want this piece to represent my vision in the Metaverse. It's decentralized, decentralized Eye."

The work will be on display at the SuperRare nftnow x Christie trade show “The Gateway” during Miami Art Week on Dec. 3. It will also be featured at Monolith at the Flager Street Festival during Art Week in Downtown Miami, Nov. 30-Dec. 5.

On Sept. 21, Snoop announced that he had been using a pseudonym to hide from the general public as the NFT Twitter influencer "Cozomo de' Medici." The wallet associated with the account has amassed an NFT collection worth more than $17 million, including nine CryptoPunks and several marijuana-themed tokens.

An NFT of Coldie's collaboration with Async and John Van Hamersveld's "The Unfolding Dream" is also currently up for auction, and the auction will run until December 10. He told Cointelegraph that he is likely to collaborate with another digital artist, Sarah Zucker, in the coming months.
