In an effort to sustainably expand the Cardano network, the Cardano Foundation has introduced a new offering known as the Identity Wallet, a W3C-compatible mobile wallet that manages self-sovereign identities across Cardano and other blockchain networks.
This innovative wallet not only accommodates numerous features but also ensures secure interactions across various blockchains. The Foundation is especially focused on fostering interoperability through safeguarded smart contracts, prioritising the protection of users' privacy.
Lower the Threshold
The Cardano Identity Wallet plays a pivotal role in facilitating the broader adoption of ADA and its DeFi tokens. Additionally, it minimises barriers for new users and seamlessly integrates with the Key Event Receipt Infrastructure (KERI), promising enhanced compatibility with other blockchain networks.
Interoperability Across Ecosystems
Importantly, Cardano's Identity Wallet aligns with the principles of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), empowering users to maintain control over their assets. Although developed by the Cardano Foundation, this open-source project is geared towards empowering the community and web3 developers. It's available on both the Android and iOS platforms. To ensure secure communication across different protocols, the Identity Wallet employs DIDComm, W3C, and Authentic Chained Data Containers (ACDCs).
