Dogecoin to Adorn IndyCar Vehicle in May’s Indianapolis 500
Dogecoin’s iconic Shiba Inu logo will take center stage on driver Devlin DeFrancesco’s IndyCar during the 2025 Indianapolis 500.
In an exciting collaboration between the House of Doge, the Dogecoin Foundation, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (co-owned by comedian David Letterman), and DeFrancesco, Dogecoin fans have the chance to select one of three wrap designs for the #30 Honda racecar.
DeFranceso explained:
“I first invested in Dogecoin in 2020 and drove everyone crazy, telling anyone who would listen that they needed to own it.”
Calling Dogecoin his “favourite crypto”, the driver said in a statement that he’s “pumped to be part of the community and an ambassador for the vision.”
Voting is open until 25 March on indycar.dogecoin.com, with the winning design featured on both the car and DeFrancesco’s helmet.
Results will be announced on 26 March.
Additionally, a Dogecoin-powered fundraising campaign for the Riley Children’s Foundation, which supports Riley Children’s Health, will run alongside the voting.
The fundraising effort, set to launch in the coming week, will also be hosted on the same site.
A spokesperson for House of Doge said:
"Bringing Dogecoin to 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing' was such a natural fit for everyone involved. House of Doge and the Dogecoin Foundation can showcase how a decentralized community is able to mobilize for real-world adoption."
Dogecoin’s History with Racing
Dogecoin has deep roots in the world of racing, having previously appeared on several NASCAR vehicles.
In 2014, shortly after its creation, Dogecoin enthusiasts raised $55,000 to sponsor driver Josh Wise's car.
Fast forward to 2021, and the Dogecoin community once again made its mark by sponsoring driver Stefan Parsons' #99 car at a NASCAR race in Nashville.
Unfortunately, Parsons' car crashed and finished in last place, mirroring a sharp drop in DOGE’s price shortly thereafter.
Crypto’s Established Connection to the Racing World
Other cryptocurrency brands have also made notable inroads into the racing world.
Polkadot recently sponsored IndyCar driver Conor Daly, while Coinbase secured a partnership with Aston Martin in Formula 1, joining a growing list of crypto sponsors in the sport.
Looking ahead, Dogecoin may expand its presence across various sports, with a focus on engaging passionate fan communities, according to a spokesperson for the House of Doge.
The goal, they say, is to position Dogecoin as a widely used currency.
Despite a recent 3.88% uptick in the last 24 hours, Dogecoin (DOGE) has faced a 31.81% drop over the past month, reflecting the broader downturn in the cryptocurrency market.
