Why do I say this stablecoin project, @UTechStables, which was rarely mentioned on Binance's official English and Chinese Twitter accounts, is worth paying attention to?
I don't want to be a riddle teller, because I suspect that this project might be a crucial part of Binance's "cultivation" strategy in the stablecoin sector.
Long-time followers know that I've always felt a pang of sadness over the fall of Binance BUSD and have always been concerned about Binance's strategic layout in the stablecoin sector. I've written more than one or two long articles about Binance's stablecoins.
In my opinion, the window of opportunity for stablecoins is closing. In the future, more institutionally backed stablecoins may emerge, but the landscape of stablecoins like USDC and USDT, which have the potential for widespread adoption across the entire industry ecosystem, is basically solidified.
But is Binance really willing to hand over such a large, readily available opportunity, a strategic resource closely linked to the future potential of the Pay sector? Based on my understanding of Binance's approach, it's unlikely. FDUSD is clearly a failing company, having wasted years of effort without success; TUSD has long been eliminated; and while USDe has received investment, the majority isn't theirs, and it almost caused major problems. Therefore, I've been waiting for Binance's move, but after several months, all I received was the previous policy support for USD1. In reality, I'm not entirely satisfied. USD1 has its own weaknesses, such as the threat of liquidation after Trump's departure, which everyone is worried about. Furthermore, Binance doesn't control the operations and revenue; if it performs well, the benefits are limited, and if it performs poorly, they can only watch helplessly. So when I stumbled upon @UTechStables on the 13th (I was probably one of the first KOLs on the internet to discover this project), I suddenly had an inspiration -- could Binance be planning to cultivate a stablecoin? Then, three days later, Binance's official Twitter account suddenly took action, and with the immediate attention from CZ and Sun, my speculation was increasingly becoming a confirmed one. Of course, whether this final guess is correct requires further investigation, such as whether YZi Labs has invested in @UTechStables, who the team members will be, and the extent to which Binance will support this stablecoin. However, I sense that perhaps the next wave of opportunities, no less significant than the USD1 narrative, is on the way. Indeed, there isn't much time left for Binance. If it wants to catch the last wave of stablecoin opportunities, the best approach is survival of the fittest, letting the strongest emerge quickly. Let's see if my intuition is correct.
