Meta Reportedly Creating AI Zuckerberg Clone To Interact With Staff And Deliver Founder-Like Guidance Inside Company

A version of Mark Zuckerberg that speaks, thinks, and responds like him may soon sit inside Meta’s offices, offering feedback to employees without the CEO being physically present.

The company is reportedly developing an AI avatar trained on his voice, mannerisms, public statements and even aspects of his thinking on company strategy, aiming to make interactions with leadership feel more direct and constant, according to the Financial Times.

Meta Builds AI Zuckerberg To Speak To Staff And Offer Feedback

Meta is working on a photorealistic, 3D AI version of its CEO that can interact with employees in real time.

The system is being trained on Zuckerberg’s image, voice and behavioural patterns, along with publicly available statements and his views on internal strategy, sources told the Financial Times.

The idea is to create a digital stand-in that could respond to questions and provide guidance when the real CEO is unavailable, with the stated aim that employees may “feel more connected to the founder through interactions with it.”

Zuckerberg himself is reportedly involved in training and testing the system, spending around five to ten hours per week coding on related AI projects and taking part in technical reviews.

Why Is Meta Turning Its CEO Into An AI Avatar

The project reflects Meta’s wider push into AI-driven characters and digital personas.

The company previously showcased a live demo in 2024 of AI creator avatars and has already allowed some creators to build AI versions of themselves to interact with comments on Instagram.

Meta also offers tools for users to build custom chatbots, although access for teenagers was restricted earlier this year following safety concerns.

This is not the company’s first attempt.

In 2023, Meta paid celebrities to create chatbot versions of themselves, a project later shut down after criticism and unusual chatbot behaviour that continued to draw attention well into 2025.

Inside Meta’s Broader AI Push And Internal Changes

Alongside the Zuckerberg avatar, Meta is also working on a separate “CEO agent” designed to help the executive retrieve information and complete tasks more efficiently.

That system is reportedly distinct from the employee-facing AI persona.

Zuckerberg has been increasingly vocal about AI inside the company, telling investors in a January earnings call that “Meta can get more done” by “investing in AI-native tooling,” while also “elevating individual contributors and flattening teams.”

The timing comes as Meta prepares for possible restructuring, with reports suggesting potential layoffs affecting 20 percent or more of staff.

Product teams are also being put through AI-focused training exercises, including “skills baseline” assessments and “vibe coding” sessions.

At the same time, internal resources are being stretched as Meta invests heavily in AI infrastructure, with insiders warning that large-scale avatar systems could further strain computing capacity.

Meta’s earlier attempts at building interactive public figure chatbots struggled to gain trust.

Some generated inaccurate or controversial responses, raising concerns about how faithfully such systems can represent real individuals.

There are also broader concerns about misuse, including the potential for AI-generated avatars to be manipulated or deployed in harmful ways.

Despite tighter controls, questions remain about how safely these systems can scale, especially when tied to high-profile individuals.
