Yesterday, ChatGPT released a new feature called "Pulse." After trying it for nearly two days, I immediately had a strong impression: this is a true "TikTok killer" product. Pulse's core function is to proactively push content to you. Now, whenever I open ChatGPT on my mobile app (currently only the mobile app has Pulse, not the web or client), the first chat window is "Today's Pulse." Clicking it will push a number of customized articles based on your chat history. These past two days, the content it's pushed to me has almost exclusively been related to topics I've discussed and engaged in extensively over the past week or two. In addition, it also includes some news related to my interests.
This push model declares that AI is moving from "passive answering" to "active service".
Three types of content pushed by Pulse: more than information
Through two observations and analysis, I found that the content pushed by Pulse can be roughly divided into three categories:
Incremental information:
If you have discussed a topic in depth with ChatGPT before, when there is new progress or important news in this field, Pulse will proactively tell you: "Regarding the topic you cared about last time, these things have happened in the past two days that are worth paying attention to." I think this is quite useful for us crypto traders. For example, I often ask chatgpt about Ethereum EIPs, and today it pushed me EIP-7935, Fusaka, about increasing the gas limit to 60M.
Push notifications like this are quite useful for us to collect information.
Memory Recall:It will remind you of topics or skills that you may be very interested in but have temporarily forgotten. For example, it will say: "This topic is very interesting. You only learned about it last time. There is still more worth exploring." Or, if you have asked about a certain skill, it will encourage you: "You can try to practice this skill today."
A few days ago, I asked chatGPT about the x402 payment protocol developed by Coinbase and Circle. Today, it pushed me an article on how to practice it (uh, it thinks too highly of me)

Practice Tips:For the skills or knowledge you have learned, it will give specific practice suggestions to turn theory into action. I've long asked ChatGPT about writing topics, and today it recommended a topic for me to write about. That's awesome. Currently, Pulse's product is still relatively rudimentary, pushing content skewed more towards practical knowledge and skills, like a premium version of the "Get" app or WeChat official account, recommending content based on your interest graph. This kind of push notifications is what all content platforms (including Weibo and X.com) do—pushing information to users. Douyin (TikTok) is undoubtedly the most extreme example of this approach. Based on your every click and view, its powerful recommendation algorithm builds an irresistible information cocoon for you. While Pulse may seem crude and simplistic right now, it's technically feasible and logical to shift its focus from promoting practical skills to entertaining content. Imagine a future where the cost of AI-generated video and audio plummets. Pulse could directly push AI-generated short videos tailored specifically for you. Every day, a vast amount of videos you'll absolutely love are created, keeping you endlessly engaged. When that day comes, what will we still need Douyin for? However, given the current high cost of AI-generated videos, I feel TikTok still has more than two years to go. ChatGPT is definitely a super teacher. Beyond entertainment, Pulse also has enormous significance in education. ChatGPT is undoubtedly one of the smartest brains in the world today. I've always admired AI's capabilities in learning assistance, such as Google's NotebookLM, which automatically generates flashcards and tests from uploaded documents. The Duoduo app also has a similar feature: after reading an article, the Learning Assistant gives you five lessons.
This function is really great. It is much more convenient than reading the article again to review.
Pulse can bring this educational model to the extreme. It can push customized "memory cards", "pop tests", or interesting educational short videos to you every day.
It is not immediate, but every other day, and it is pushed proactively (you don't need to click on it like Google NotebookLM and Get App). This kind of review is a good way to make reading more useful.
In the future, whenever you copy an article to ChatGPT and, after multiple rounds of conversation, discover that ChatGPT truly interests you, it will give you questions and tests on the second, seventh, and fifty-second days (like the Eishaus memory curve).
This "learn, test, and proactive review" approach is not only much more efficient than traditional review, it's also more fun and less painful. Pulse has the potential to become a tireless, all-knowing "super teacher" who always understands you.
In the past, powerful AI like ChatGPT always required us to "actively" ask questions in order to extract its intelligence. If you didn't ask, its wisdom wouldn't be revealed. This "pull" interaction model naturally limits its "daily active users" (number of daily uses). After all, we don't open it hundreds of times a day like we do on Douyin or WeChat. For most people, opening it 10 times a day is already considered an ultra-high-frequency user. Pulse's "push" model completely changes the rules of the game. It proactively creates surprises and fun experiences, allowing users to gain value without even realizing it. This will greatly increase user stickiness and daily active users, transforming ChatGPT from a "low-frequency tool" into a "high-frequency platform."
Please use your belief, there is much more than that
Pulse's imagination goes far beyond education and entertainment.
Activity Planner: It can arrange weekend activities for you. When you are still hesitating about where to go, it has already generated a complete itinerary for you. You only need to decide "go" or "not go".
Action executor: Going a step further, if it is connected with the payment protocol (such as the x402 solution that Coinbase and Circle are exploring), you only need to authorize it, and it can directly book hotels and flights for you.
All-round life assistant:If you give ChatGPT higher permissions in the future and allow it to take over your calendar and to-do list, it can even arrange work for you directly.
The emergence of ChatGPT Pulse is not just a new feature; it marks a profound shift in the human-computer interaction paradigm. When AI no longer waits for your questions, but proactively predicts your needs, the entire landscape of the internet may change.
The internet is truly about to change.
I hope I don't have to delete and reinstall TikTok anymore... . . . .
