Ledger Launches Solana-Branded Wallet with Unique Soulbound Token
What if your crypto wallet did more than store assets—and showed you're part of Solana’s core community?
Ledger has now launched a Solana-branded version of its Flex wallet, offering a unique way for Solana users to secure and manage their crypto assets with tailored features.
This is the first of its kind to carry a blockchain’s branding and features built specifically for its ecosystem.
The new device, revealed during the Solana Accelerate event in New York City, arrives in Solana’s signature purple and green colours.
While it supports multiple blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Polygon, this edition adds exclusive tools tailored for the Solana network.
Notably, it comes preloaded with a Soulbound Token (SBT), a non-transferable token acting as proof of ownership.
These tokens may unlock future rewards for users, though details remain limited for now.
As Ian Rogers, Ledger’s chief experience officer described,
“This is one of those things where it's really community-focused. It's a way for you to say, hey, I'm a member of the Ledger Solana community.”
The SBT signals early adoption and a special status among Solana supporters.
It brings them a sense of belonging to the community.
What Are Soulbound Tokens and Why Do They Matter Here
Soulbound Tokens were proposed by Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin in 2022 as digital badges representing affiliations or credentials that cannot be transferred or sold.
Ledger’s approach with the Solana wallet ties these tokens to device ownership, signalling an identity within the Solana ecosystem.
The tokens aren’t just symbolic.
Ledger hints that holders will receive “airdrops of rewards in the future,” though specifics remain vague.
This echoes earlier instances where Solana token holders benefited financially — for example, owners of Solana Saga phones were once airdropped the BONK memecoin, which later surged in value.
Ledger Flex Solana Edition Builds On Proven Hardware
This Solana version is based on Ledger’s Flex wallet released last summer.
It retains the same features including Bluetooth, NFC, an E Ink touchscreen, and Ledger OS for secure self-custody of crypto assets offline.
Unlike purely Solana-specific hardware, the wallet still supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others alongside Solana’s native SPL tokens.
Users can store, transfer and even merge SPL tokens directly from the device, enhancing interaction with Solana’s growing DeFi and NFT ecosystem.
Solana’s Comeback Seen in Device Launch and Network Growth
The timing of this launch reflects Solana’s ongoing recovery and expansion.
After a rough period following the FTX collapse and founder Sam Bankman-Fried’s arrest, Solana has regained momentum.
The network recently hit 11.12 million active addresses and recorded $1.2 billion in app revenue during the first quarter of 2025.
Weekly active addresses surged to about 24.2 million in early May, while total value locked stands at $9.53 billion.
SOL itself has been trading strong, currently priced at $179.59, rising 6.7% in the last day alongside Bitcoin’s new peak of $111,814.
A Phased Release Aims to Reward Loyal Solana Users
Ledger plans to release the wallet in four stages, starting with exclusive access for existing Solana Soulbound token holders such as Solana Saga or Seeker Genesis owners, who will receive a $70 Solana rebate and a black magnetic folio.
Breakdown of the four phases.
Later phases will gradually open to broader groups, including anyone holding SOL on Ledger Live, with vouchers reducing over time.
After these allocations, the wallet will be available for general purchase on Ledger.com, each unit including the unique Soulbound Token.
Ledger’s Flex Series Marks a Milestone Anniversary
The original Ledger Flex device debuted in July 2024, coinciding with Ledger’s tenth anniversary.
Shortly after, Ledger introduced a Bitcoin-branded version priced at $249, with $5 from each sale donated to Bitcoin developers through the Brink non-profit.
The Solana edition continues this trend of community-focused, specialised hardware, aiming to offer both security and tailored features for the growing Solana user base.
In a statement, Ian Rogers emphasised the importance of security in a rapidly expanding ecosystem,
“As Solana continues its exponential growth, driven by its incredible community, security cannot be an afterthought.”
More Devices Targeting the Solana Community
Ledger is not alone in combining hardware with community incentives.
The Solana Seeker mobile phone, launching globally on 4 August, will ship with its own soulbound Genesis NFT linked to the owner’s wallet.
These tokens have proven lucrative before — the initial Solana Saga release led to sizeable BONK memecoin airdrops.
With hardware and tokens designed around community identity and rewards, Solana’s ecosystem looks set to deepen engagement among its users while reinforcing secure self-custody.
