Significant Increase in Crypto Contributions

Donald Trump has significantly boosted his campaign funds through cryptocurrency donations, raising more than $4 million. This figure marks a dramatic increase from the under $100,000 reported in June. Blockchain analytics firm Breadcrumbs had noted that as of June 24, Trump's on-chain crypto donations totalled just $59,386.

Breakdown of Donations

Contributors have donated Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple’s XRP, and the stablecoin USDC. Specifically, Trump’s campaign received over $2.15 million in Bitcoin from 19 donors across 12 states. These donors come from diverse professions, including homemaker, U.S. military officer, missionary, painter, pizza sales representative, and a State Department security technician.

Contributions from Crypto Influencers

Notable figures in the crypto industry have made substantial donations. Gemini co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss each contributed 15.47 BTC, worth around $1 million at the time. However, their donations were partially returned due to exceeding the legal limit of $844,600.

BitGO CEO Mike Belshe also donated $50,000 in Bitcoin. Kraken CEO and Founder Jesse Powell contributed nearly $1 million, primarily in Ethereum. Powell’s donation was motivated by his criticism of current U.S. crypto regulations, particularly those advocated by Senator Elizabeth Warren and SEC Chairman Gary Gensler.

Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty donated $300,000 in XRP, while former Messari CEO Ryan Selkis contributed $50,000 in USDC.

Trump’s campaign continues to attract notable crypto donations as he prepares to speak at the upcoming Bitcoin Conference in Tennessee. His involvement highlights ongoing support and engagement within the cryptocurrency sector.
