Cardano has begun the first stage of its transition to decentralised governance with the Chang hard fork, which will be completed in 90 days, shifting power to community-led bodies.

Cardano is poised for a significant upgrade, with large holders reducing their positions amid mixed sentiment. Technical indicators and upcoming changes suggest a potential price increase for ADA, possibly reaching $0.43 to $0.47.

BNB Chain, previously recognised as Binance Smart Chain (BSC), has decided to name the hard fork after Zhang Heng, a celebrated Chinese polymathic scientist and statesman from the Han dynasty.

The Binance BNB Chain network is about to undergo a hard fork dubbed ZhangHeng which will boost blockchain security among other things.

“This is a big deal for OP mainnet,” Karl Floersch, CEO and co-founder of OP Labs, the company behind the blockchain, told CoinDesk this week in an interview.

The next major upgrade for the blockchain will include “proto-danksharding,” though developers are still deciding what else to include in the hard fork.

Customers have until February 16 to withdraw their funds, and deposits will be halted on January 20.

The software upgrade occurred at 10:45 UTC (5:45 a.m. ET) on Tuesday, according to a tweet from Polygon Labs, the lead company behind the project.

The software upgrade scheduled for January 17 will address gas spikes and chain reorganization.
