Train Derailment in Namibia Results in Casualties

A luxury train derailment in southern Namibia has resulted in two fatalities and four injuries, according to a statement released by the Namibia National Railway Company on March 1. According to Jin10, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. local time, approximately 100 kilometers south of the city of Keetmanshoop. In response to the accident, the railway company has activated an emergency response plan and dispatched personnel to the site for rescue operations. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the derailment. Namibian police confirmed that at the time of the accident, the 'Pride of Africa' train was carrying 36 staff members and 45 passengers. The injured have been transported to a hospital for treatment. The nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed. The 'Pride of Africa' train is operated by a company headquartered in South Africa, specializing in long-distance sightseeing train services across southern Africa.
