Cyprus Issues Air Safety Alert Due to Suspicious Flying Object

Cyprus issued an air safety alert on the morning of March 4, according to Cyprus National Broadcasting Corporation. The alert was triggered around 9:30 a.m. local time due to a suspicious flying object moving towards Cyprus. According to Jin10, Greek Air Force jets were scrambled from a military base within Cyprus to address the situation. For safety reasons, staff at the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus were relocated to an underground area. Two Greek Air Force F-16 jets took off from the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos, located in western Cyprus, to intercept the object before it entered Cypriot airspace. The alert was lifted around 10 a.m. local time, and U.S. Embassy staff resumed normal operations.
