A new alliance, including major companies like Google and Tesla, has been formed to tackle the issue of energy burden by utilizing underused capacity in the power grid. According to Jin10, the alliance, named Utilize, aims to collaborate with state legislators, regulators, and utility companies to improve grid operations, addressing both the cost of electricity and the reliability and speed of power supply. As AI data centers and other demands drive electricity prices higher, the energy burden has become a critical issue. Alliance officials plan to release a study by the Brattle Group soon, indicating that system improvements could save U.S. consumers up to $180 billion over the next decade. Other members of Utilize include air conditioning giant Carrier, deployment services company Sparkfund, electrical panel firm SPAN, and data center developer Verrus.
