Bangladesh's Finance and Planning Minister, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, has confirmed that the country has requested an exemption to purchase Russian oil during discussions with U.S. officials. According to Jin10, the talks also covered broader issues such as energy cooperation, investment, and trade. Chowdhury stated that India has already received a temporary exemption for purchasing Russian oil, and Bangladesh believes it should be granted the same opportunity. Following a meeting with the U.S. ambassador to Bangladesh, Chowdhury expressed that the country's economy requires robust support and mentioned that the U.S. officials would forward the request to Washington. The outcome remains to be seen.
