Greek Cargo Ship Enters Persian Gulf with AIS Active, Reports Say

A Greek bulk carrier, identified as the 'Giacometti,' has reportedly entered the Persian Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz with its Automatic Identification System (AIS) active, marking the first such occurrence since March 2. According to Jin10, the vessel, flying the Liberian flag, is owned by a Greek bulk shipping company. The AIS data indicates that the ship is transporting food cargo destined for Iran. On March 20, local time, the ship navigated around Larak Island, following a route similar to the 'safe corridor' delineated by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
