Senior energy officials from the Trump administration are set to travel to Houston this week to meet with oil industry executives and foreign dignitaries, according to Politico. This meeting comes as the U.S. military actions in Iran have caused significant disruptions in the oil sector. The annual CERAWeek conference coincides with nearly a month of conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, and the near-total closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Jin10, interviews with several energy industry leaders and foreign diplomats planning to attend the event reveal that the industry aims to communicate a critical message to the government: the public needs to know when this conflict, which has severely disrupted their existing order, will end. Frank Maisano, a senior partner at the energy law firm Bracewell, stated, "The events in Iran have completely upended everyone's expectations for the year."
