USPS Employee Sentenced for Check Fraud Scheme Causing $364,000 in Losses

A United States Postal Service (USPS) employee has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for his involvement in a check fraud scheme that resulted in over $364,000 in attempted losses. According to NS3.AI, the Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed that Andre Whitehurst stole both incoming and outgoing checks, which he then sold to co-conspirators. The group utilized fictitious identities to withdraw funds before banks could detect the fraudulent activity. In addition to his prison sentence, Whitehurst has agreed to forfeit $74,000 and remains liable for restitution.
