Nasdaq has announced a new 'fast-track' mechanism for the inclusion of newly listed companies in the Nasdaq 100 Index. According to Ming Pao, if a newly listed company's market capitalization ranks within the top 40 of the Nasdaq 100 Index components, it can be included in the index after just 15 days of trading. This significantly reduces the current waiting period of at least three months for large-cap stocks to be considered for index inclusion. This change will allow major tech companies like SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic, which are planning to go public later this year, to be included in index-tracking funds more quickly.
