STOCKS | Mainland Shares Extend Afternoon Losses As Defence Stocks Rally

Mainland A-shares extended losses in afternoon trade, with the Shanghai Composite Index down 0.79% at 3,948.39 points, the CSI 300 off 1.07%, the Shenzhen Component down 1.53% and the ChiNext Index falling 1.87%, according to ETNet. Shanghai B shares rose 1.14%, while Shenzhen B shares edged down 0.27%. Defence stocks outperformed the broader market, while agriculture shares and grain-related concepts led declines.
