Elon Musk Leads Major Government Overhaul Amid Legal Challenges

Musk is spearheading a significant streamlining initiative within the U.S. government. Leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he has taken control of the U.S. Digital Service and entered the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to implement layoffs, budget cuts, and federal agency restructuring. In early February, DOGE attempted to forcibly enter the headquarters of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). After being denied entry, Musk labeled the agency a 'criminal organization' on X, leading to a near-complete shutdown of its operations. U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has authorized Musk to advance the 'Project 2025' reform, aiming to reduce government size and eliminate opposition. Several civil servants have been compelled to resign for non-compliance, and some agency leaders have been replaced. The Democratic Party and unions have initiated legal actions, resulting in some courts temporarily halting related activities. Despite these legal challenges, Musk maintains control over key agencies, raising concerns about the excessive influence of private entrepreneurs on government power.
